Science Home Tutor Gold Coast

Some test tubes sit in a rack and are filled with a blue substance.
The Australian curriculum for Science implemented in most Gold Coast schools, builds a foundation for inquiry based learning. A Gold Coast Science tutor working with us is aware that throughout your child's schooling, they will be exposed to the same concepts a number of times, each year broadening in scope and application. This form of teaching sequence throughout the years is known as a 'spiral curriculum'. While it does provide students the opportunity to revisit and fill learning gaps, it can pose some broader issues.

Our tutors are chosen for their proven understanding of the subjects they teach
Often students are taught Science in schools by
non-subject specific professionals who may misunderstand or misrepresent certain aspects of the science curriculum. By the time students make their way through a year of Science, they are met with some similar concepts again in the next year that they may have developed a negative association with before the commencement of their study.

Allow us to match you with a Science Tutor on the Gold Coast chosen particularly for their specialised background with Science. Often these are university students studying towards a Science-related pathway or those with careers within a Science and Technology background.

Pick a Science Tutor with current and inside knowledge about the new ATAR system in QLD

Since the formation of a new Queensland Syllabus for Seniors, our coaches have been kept abreast of the current forms of senior assessment and are prepared to ensure your child has the required knowledge and skills to make informed decisions in regards to their scientific investigations and Experiments that form a large portion of the internal assessment components.

In previous years, high school science assessment in Queensland would be completely written and administered at the school level. The classroom teachers responsible for the creation of the assessment would commonly be marking them. Teachers were able to confidently guide students in a direction that more often than not, pointed toward concepts in their assessments.

University entry is now heavily weighted upon final exam performance
This is not the case any longer with QCAA's new ATAR system. Now more than ever, we can see retention of curriculum content as a necessity, with Queensland now adopting externally written examinations that are heavily weighted 50% for their respective subjects in Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. These examinations are administered to students without and without the perusal of their classroom teachers. Students must be able to recall and use the knowledge they have gained in the subjects over the course of a year and retain it for a heavy two-part externally administered examination. To add to this, they must be familiar with all parts of the syllabus as the final examination could contain content that may address any aspect of the syllabus.
